I find that taking a beautiful image of someone is so simple, everyone can be beautiful, EVERYONE, and all it takes is the person behind the camera having the "knack" and the eye to see the outcome. Technicalities, please don't bore me! Making someone beautiful in an image is nothing to do with your technical skills, it's all in the photographers ability to see.
